News From Room 4
Our classroom newspaper is compiled at varying intervals throughout the year to showcase student writing and so parents can get a better glimpse into what we are learning about in class. All students have different selections of their writing published in our classroom newspaper, though their writing may not be evident in every issue; this can often mean that assignments are missing or incomplete (possibly no name papers, etc). Publishing student writing allows parents to see the variety of styles and abilities and allows students to recognize the importance of writing clearly and effectively. (In our case, if your teacher can't read your writing or you don't turn in your work, it may not be included or selected!) Having a student written newspaper allows a nice introduction to non-fiction text features, such as: headlines, captions, table of contents, etc. It's a valuable teaching tool and a great showcase of student work. Enjoy!
Please note: it's not always possible to create this each year, though it is my intent to do so whenever possible.
