Student Expectations
Students are to select a scientific experiment to demonstrate for their peers. They will need to meet the following requirements:
1. The experiment should be new to the student and to the class. Students may not select an experiment already conducted by another student.
2. A practice run of the experiment must be completed at home.
3. Student must complete the writing component and a display board at home. If not, students will not be allowed to conduct their experiment in class until they are complete.
4. All materials needed (plus the scientist backpack) must be brought to school by the morning of the presentation.
5. The entire experiment must be completed independently in front of the class.
6. Student must describe the experiment while demonstrating.
7. The experiment should take no more than 20 minutes from start to finish allowing enough time for set up and clean up. If it is an experiment that takes longer (especially more than a day) to develop, a before and after demo might be wise!

Parent Information
This information is enclosed in the backpack for your convenience along with some samples of projects we have completed as a class. Parents are always welcome to be a part of our audience, but please do not assist as this is your child’s moment to shine. Note: if your child does need help, I can step in, but they love to call on their audience for helpful lab assistants when needed.
Scientist Paperwork
In the event that you need another copy of the scientist worksheet (or wish to work ahead of the schedule), here it is!
